  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Cornflour (Cornstarch)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • Oil as needed for frying (Canola or vegetable oil)
For the Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Orange Juice
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar
  • 2 cloves Minced Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger Paste
Garnish
  • 2 tablespoons Green Onions Chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Seeds Optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and toss them in a bowl with flour, cornflour, salt, and pepper.
Cooking
  1. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Once hot, add the chicken in batches, frying until golden and crispy.
  3. In another bowl, mix the orange juice, soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger.
  4. Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the pan and drain any excess oil.
  5. Quickly prepare the sauce in the same pan, letting it thicken slightly.
  6. Toss the crispy chicken in the sauce until it is beautifully coated.
  7. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if you like.

Notes

Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles. Drizzle extra sauce over for restaurant-style finish. Can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for about 3 days, or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in the oven for best results.
