Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound Fresh Strawberries Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • ⅓ cup Sugar Adjust the sugar to your preference.
  • 2 teaspoons Lemon Juice Use freshly squeezed if possible.
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch Can be used to thicken the sauce if needed.

Method

Preparation
  1. Mix cut strawberries, lemon juice, and sugar in a medium pot.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring regularly.
  3. Reduce heat to a simmer and whisk occasionally until the sauce thickens, about 20–23 minutes.
  4. After turning off the heat, let it cool to room temperature. The sauce thickens slightly as it cools and more in the fridge.

Notes

Serve the sauce warm or chilled. For a smoother sauce, blend it after cooking. Consider adding a dash of vanilla extract or a splash of orange juice for an extra flavor kick. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week or freeze for up to three months.
